Sweet and creamy mix well together in every mouthful; however, one cannot ignore an added component – caramel which gives off some kind of butterscotch aftertaste leaving behind gentle warmth on palate.

Sometimes people eat it after dinner when they want something warm but also sweet too – sometimes people serve it for dessert on special occasions.

Ingredients:

4 huge eggs

1/2 cup white sugar

2 cups whole milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

4 slices stale bread, cubed (about 4 cups)

1/4 cup raisins (optional)

For the caramel:

1 cup white sugar

1/4 cup water

1/2 cup heavy cream

Pinch of salt

Directions:

“As you’re prepping, remember to preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). And don’t forget to grease the baking dish with either butter or cooking spray.”

In a large bowl, mix together the eggs and sugar until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk and vanilla extract until well blended. Stir in the bread cubes and raisins, making sure that they are evenly coated with the egg mixture. Allow to stand for about 10-15 minutes so that the bread can absorb the liquid.

Pour into prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until set and golden brown on top.
Create the caramel: As you bake the custard, prepare the caramel. Place the sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Once it starts boiling, avoid stirring and cook until dark amber in color, swirling occasionally for an even caramelization. Make sure it doesn’t burn.

Add cream and salt: Remove the saucepan from heat when caramel achieves desired hue; pour heavy cream gradually into it while stirring continuously – be careful because mixture will bubble up; also add little amount of salt for balancing sweetness with some pinchers.

Top pudding off: When bread pudding finishes baking take out of oven and let cool down a bit. Then pour warm caramel sauce over it so that can drip all around from top to bottom sides too.

Serve: Serve pudding warm — spoon extra caramel sauce over each portion, if desired. Enjoy this creamy dessert combined with luscious golden toffee!
