A few days ago, I had really set you up with something fantastic: Chicken and Biscuits. This healthy chicken and biscuits dish is a creamy, cozy casserole that bridges the gap between a chicken pot pie and fluffy handmade biscuits—which is precisely where we should all be right now, according to the recipe!!
Give it a shot, you’ll love it!To Make this Recipe You’ Will Need the following ingredients:
INGREDIENTS:
2 large spoons.Of extra-virgin olive oil.
Sliced baby mushrooms, I used 8-ounces.
1½ garlic powder
½ Tsp.Of kosher salt
¾ Tsp.Of black pepper
¼ cup.Of all-purpose flour
2½ Cups.Of milk.
2 Cups.Of cooked and shredded boneless, skinless chicken breasts.
Frozen bag.Of mixed vegetables.
1 large spoon.Of chopped fresh thyme.
A can.Of refrigerated puff (biscuits) cookie dough.
INGREDIENTS :
Step 1:
Turn the temp of the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit = 200 degrees Celsius, and using a nonstick spray, you need to lightly coat an 8-10-inch or equivalent 2-and-a-half-quart baking dish.
Step 2:
Over medium-high heat, heat a large dutch oven or equivalent deep, heavy-bottomed pot until hot but not boiling. 1 tablespoon of oil should be added to the pan.
Step 3:
Then, you can stir periodically for 8 minutes, or until the mushrooms are starting to brown, until the pan is hot but not smoking, and the mushrooms are beginning to brown.
Step 4:
And now, combine the garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Cook for a further 3 minutes, or until the mushrooms have a deeper brown color and are tender.
Step 5:
After that, sprinkle the flour on top of the mushrooms and set them aside. Add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of oil and mix well. Cook, stirring constantly, for 1 to 2 minutes, or until any white pieces of flour have disappeared and the flour is light golden in color.
Step 6:
At this step, the mixture will seem to be dry. Pour the milk in slowly and steadily. Change to a whisk and continuously stir the mixture. Bring the mixture to a low, moderate boil, whisking constantly and scraping any brown pieces from the bottom of the pan as it cooks.
Step 7:
Continue to cook, whisking constantly, until the sauce has thickened and reduced by about half, about 7 minutes. Turn the heat down to a bare minimum.
Step 8:
Now, combine the chicken, frozen veggies, and thyme in a large mixing bowl, and you need to taste and season with more salt and pepper if desired. Pour the chicken mixture into the baking dish that has been prepared.
Step 9:
To finish, drop the biscuit dough by rounded spoonfuls over the top, ensuring that the biscuits are equally distributed over the surface.
